Skiing and tobogganing on the third weekend in Adve

Still a small range of lifts: five ski lifts and one toboggan lift in Winterberg 

Winter hasn't really shown what it can do yet. The winter sports offering is growing slowly, but it is growing. Skiing and tobogganing will still be possible next weekend. Light snowfall sets the mood for the start of the winter season. 

Alpine skiing 

Five lifts are currently running in the Winterberg ski lift carousel, four slopes are open. Another lift and slope will be added by Friday at the latest. All runs are connected to each other. With frost at night and dry weather, winter sports conditions on the open slopes are good to very good, with even a little fresh snow towards Sunday.

Tobogganing 

The toboggan lift in the Ruhrquelle ski area will be running from Saturday and should be open every day thereafter. If the light snowfall comes as announced in the weather reports, tobogganing in the countryside could also be possible, especially on Sunday. 

Hiking 

The often sunny Friday makes you want to get some fresh air and exercise. The slightly snow-covered landscape will give a wonderful wintery impression at the weekend. However, winter only exists on the mountains. It's very easy to get up the Ettelsberg. The cable car for pedestrians runs in Willingen.

Weather 

The entire second half of the week will bring us frosty nights. After a frosty and friendly Friday, more clouds will gather from Saturday. Light snow showers move across the mountains on Sunday night. The following week promises to be mild but dry. 

Snowmaking 

Only a few small cold windows have made some snow production possible so far this season. Too little to build a piste with this alone. The current frosty nights are not doing much to change this. Only a few hours of snow are currently being produced on some slopes at night. That will be over again from Sunday. The slopes that are currently open are covered with snow from the all-weather snowmaking systems and offer a robust basis to bridge a few mild days. This offer is gladly accepted by the guests. 

Prospects

Winter is not quite making it into the region at the moment.The coming week looks mild but dry.Longer-term weather forecasts are very uncertain, but show a chance of more winter towards the fourth weekend of Advent. 
Everyone wants a white Christmas. But the statistics clearly show that this is the exception rather than the rule. That's why the lift operators in Winterberg have taken precautions.Up to six kilometers of slopes in the Winterberg ski lift carousel are guaranteed snow.The operators have invested five million euros in all-weather snow-making facilities.The first 1.5 kilometers are now covered with snow and open.Systems on other slopes have now been delivered, are being connected and are gradually starting to work.The main season in the ski resorts begins on Boxing Day.The majority of the six kilometers of slopes should be open by the end of the year.
